Business Groups File Suit Against $15 Minimum Wage Proposition

The ballot measure that would make the minimum wage $15 per hour in Seatac, a suburb of Seattle, is still too close to call, but it appears destined for court in any case. Alaska Airlines, the Washington Restaurant Association, and airport concession company Filo Foods filed a lawsuit with the King County Superior Court claiming the measure exceeds the town’s legislative authority and violates federal law. Proponents have asked that the matter be moved to federal court.
