UPS Begins Rollout Of Route Efficiency Software

UPS is set to begin rolling out software to improve the efficiency of its drivers’ daily routes, The company, which spends about $1 billion a year on technology, has been developing the so called on-road integrated optimization and navigation (ORION) software since 2003. Intended to provide more accurate routes for drivers while accounting for geographic obstacles, customer requests, and data about past deliveries, ORIONcould save the company as much as $50 million in fuel costs in the U.S.
