OECD Head Calls For Elimination of Fossil Fuel Emissions This Century

The head of the Organization for Economic Cooperation wants to make it a priority to eliminate all emissions from burning fossil fuels later this century, and will seek to emphasize climate change in the run-up to the United Nations conference on the issue to be held in Paris in 2015. Secretary general of the OECD Angel Gurria’s statements come as the organization released a report that emissions are rising at too high a rate to hold global warming to 2 degrees Celsius, and as countries that have made the greatest strides in eliminating carbon emissions – like Germany – are beginning to question the high costs of energy and renewable subsidies they’ve undertaken.
