New FCC Written Consent Telemarketer Regs Set for October

As of October 16, telemarketers must receive “prior express written consent” before making prerecorded calls to residential telephone lines or autodialed or prerecorded calls to wireless numbers. The Federal Communications Commission amended its rules last year under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, which goes into effect this fall. The new rules further restrict telemarketers by eliminating the “established business relationship” exception.
