The SEC Whistleblower Program, Two Years In

The SEC Office of the Whistleblower was established in August, 2011. The SEC now reports that it’s getting multiple whistleblower tips daily, some of them “of very high quality.” Issues include corporate disclosure fraud, offering fraud, stock manipulation, insider trading and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations. There is one company practice that is virtually certain to reduce the risk of being named in a whistleblower complaint.
