$1M Lawyer Sanction Halted By Appeals Court

A defense lawyer sanctioned with $1 million in penalties has regained access to frozen business accounts after a Pennsylvania appellate court issued an order demanding a new hearing to examine the allegations against her. The Superior Court order will force Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Judge Paul Panepinto to hold a hearing on new evidence provided by representatives of defense lawyer Nancy Raynor. The judge sanctioned Raynor last year, alleging that she had allowed a witness to provide testimony regarding information that had been precluded by court order.
